Traveling home from Paso Robles one day, I came face-to-face with the
smiling face of “Polio Eradicator” and Rotarian Kevin Main on a
Billboard. This bill board can be seen traveling southbound at the
bottom of the Cuesta Grade before entering into San Luis Obispo.
Kevin Main of Kevin Main Jewelry has begun a unique and exciting new
fundraiser benefiting Polio Plus. This concept was inspired by Rotary de
Tolosa’s recent billboard in support of the cause, featuring an
individual, their defining passions in a few phrases, followed by the

Come help us celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Old Time Fiddlers’
Convention and Festival on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. on the grounds of the historic Rancho La Patera & Stow House in
Goleta, California, just 10 minutes north of Santa Barbara.You will be treated to the finest in acoustic music including Grammy

One of the more popular District Conference Events is the Carpinteria
Greenhouse Tours. Carpinteria is World famous for its’ many
State-of-the-Art greenhouses. We have planned an optional Greenhouse
tour in conjunction with this year’s District Conference. The Greenhouses we have selected are Rotarian owned, and World
technology leading greenhouse operations. You will be able to visit
Westerly Orchids, Everbloom Gerberas and Anthyriums, and Myriad Roses.
One of these operations is a fully enclosed system; recycling water and
fertilizers, using equipment that is 4x more energy efficient than
others, and all utilizing beneficial biological controls instead of

The Rotary Club of Delano becomes the 30th club on our District to become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. Rotary Club of Delano's membership is a Great mix of veteran and new Rotarians.
Current president Roman Dowling has only been in Rotary for 2 years,
but he realized the importance of supporting the Rotary Foundation and
all the Projects and Programs being performed around the District and
World with these funds. Fifty percent of his Club were non Paul Harris members (all newer
members) with the rest being mostly all multi Paul Harris Fellows. They
took advantage of the Rotary Foundation’s new policy that provides non
Paul Harris Fellow Rotarians with a One-to-One earning on Money
contributions AND Recognition Points. An example is $100 to the Rotary
Foundation Annual Programs Fund will result in $100 credit in both the
Recognition Amount (permanent in account) and recognition Points
