Rotary Club Bike RideThe Rotary Club of Indian Wells Valley sponsored, organized and hosted a supported Park to Park Bicycle Ride from LeRoy Jackson Park in Ridgecrest to River Park in Kernville Oct. 15.
The ride covered about 60 miles, with four rest stops that will have water, Gatorade, fruit and cookies. There was pizza and cool drinks at the finish.
Rotarians, family members and friends from the Rotary Clubs of the Indian Wells Valley, China Lake and Kern River Valley were invited to participate in the event. The weather was good, with sun and a bit of a breeze as the riders launched their attack on the nearly 3,000 foot vertical rise between Ridgecrest and the top of Walker’s Pass. But once they got to the summit, it was pretty much all downhill for many miles.
